Meet Our Dental Team in Helena, MT

Shelly joined the practice in October 2017. She has 39 years of experience in the dental field, with knowledge in both clinical and administrative areas. Her background helps her support the practice, the team and the patients with confidence and care.

Shelly enjoys being part of a practice that provides excellent dental treatment. She values continuing education and appreciates being part of a team that keeps growing as dentistry evolves. Her experience, dedication and understanding of dental care help contribute to a smooth and welcoming patient experience.

Outside the office, Shelly has three children and eight grandchildren. She enjoys spending time with her family.

Kayla joined the practice in February 2020 and serves as a dental assistant. With 20 years of experience in dentistry and patient care, she brings a strong knowledge of dental care to the team. Kayla enjoys helping patients feel comfortable so they can receive the care they need with confidence.

Her experience and caring approach help support a positive visit for each patient. She is proud to be part of a team that focuses on comfort, trust and quality care. Outside the office, Kayla enjoys spending time with her three sons.

I am grateful to have joined Dr. Mitchell’s practice in January 2026. I graduated from Carroll College in Helena in 1990 with a bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene.

I truly enjoy Dr. Mitchell’s practice for a variety of reasons. I joined the team when the previous hygienist moved away from Montana. Everyone at this practice is vested in quality dental care, as well as offering compassion and kindness to all. Dr. Mitchell is dedicated to improving our skills through continuous dental training. We strive to work as a unit to provide excellent dental experiences for each person that schedules care with our office, in a comfortable and caring environment.

I feel that I contribute to the success of the practice through my 36 years of experience as a dental hygienist. Being a dental hygienist who is committed to patient’s overall health is a passion of mine. Dental hygiene is not solely about cleaning one’s teeth. It is a daily challenge to meet new people and provide thorough care on many levels. I enjoy helping patients identify and comprehend the disease process that is occurring in their mouth, and have multiple recommendations specifically catered to the patient’s age, sex, health conditions, medications, recession, periodontal disease and/or gingivitis that will result in them keeping their teeth for a lifetime! I pride myself in communication that allows people to understand their individual needs, especially in the field of oral disease and its association with systemic health concerns, and diet in relation to decay.

I am originally from Butte, Montana, and have lived in Helena since 1987. My husband and I have two adult children. Spending time with them is very important to us. We enjoy vacationing together. My son enjoys hunting with us, while my second son enjoys salmon fishing with us, and together we also enjoy horses and mules. My favorite past time is playing pickleball. I also enjoy caring for my mules and lawn/garden.

Janelle joined the practice in October 2025. She graduated from Columbus State Community College in 2012 with an Associate of Applied Science degree. Janelle enjoys the balance of patient care, technical skill and teamwork that comes with being part of the dental field.

She helps support positive patient experiences by making patients feel comfortable, explaining procedures clearly and staying attentive to each patient’s needs. Janelle values the opportunity to help patients feel informed and cared for during their visits. She and her husband have a daughter, three dogs and two mini donkeys. She also enjoys bringing humor and a friendly spirit to the team.
