When you bite down, your jaw joint enters a specific position in your skull. If you have a malocclusion (bad bite) or clench or grind your teeth, then you are changing the position of your jaw joints. This can cause strain in the jaw muscles and eventually lead to TMJ disorders and other problems. A bite analysis helps to determine the position of your teeth and jaws when you bite, enabling our dentist to create a treatment plan to help resolve the problem and restore your oral health and function.

We use a handheld computerized bite analysis device known as a Tekscan or T-Scan to see how your teeth come together and where the uneven bite is coming from. This information is then used to adjust your bite into the optimal position. You simply bite down on an ultra-thin sensor that measures the time and force of your bite, displaying the information in a detailed 3D analysis on a nearby screen.
